About Me
Real Experience, Real Knowledge.
Hi, I’m Viet Nguyen. I’m based in Illinois, with a background in business management, telecommunications, and IT support. I enjoy working with technology, solving practical problems, and sharing what I learn through work, study, and personal projects.
My Background
Earlier in my career, I worked at Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), first as a Team Lead and later as a Business Manager, supervising approximately 130 employees. My responsibilities included coordinating daily operations, training employees, supporting customers, and collaborating with technical teams. I also contributed to a project developing sales management software.
After moving to the United States, I gained hands-on production experience at Muir Graphic in Peoria, Illinois, working with printing machinery and finishing operations. This experience broadened my understanding of production workflows, teamwork, and attention to detail.
As an independent consultant, I worked with computer hardware, software, and network troubleshooting. My projects also included building GPU, CPU, and ASIC mining systems, configuring servers and blockchain-related services, and working on solar energy installations.
These experiences strengthened my interest in how different systems work together. They also shaped my approach to solving problems: understand the situation, explore practical solutions, test the results, and keep learning.
Education and Continued Learning
My education brings together business, finance, and technology. I earned bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Finance–Banking from Ho Chi Minh City Open University in Vietnam. I later completed my Master of Business Administration at Hue University, where I studied from 2012 to 2014.
This foundation helps me consider both the business and technical sides of a project, including how decisions affect people, daily operations, costs, and long-term goals.
After moving to the United States, I continued my education at Illinois Central College, earning an Associate in Arts in 2023. Studying in a second language has been an important part of my journey, helping me develop patience, adaptability, and persistence.
I am currently pursuing an Associate in Applied Science in Cisco Networking Specialist at Illinois Central College, with an expected graduation in 2027. My coursework includes networking, computer hardware, operating systems, and cloud computing, building on my practical IT experience.
For me, education is an ongoing process. I enjoy connecting classroom knowledge with real situations, exploring new tools, and learning through hands-on projects and conversations with others.
Why I Created This Website
I created vietnguyen.online to bring together my experience, interests, and continued learning. It is a place to share practical knowledge, document projects, and reflect on lessons learned along the way.
The topics I explore include:
- Technology and Networking: Computer hardware, troubleshooting, networking, servers, and cloud computing.
- Solar Energy and Projects: Installation experiences, project ideas, and lessons from working with energy systems.
- Finance and Investing: Personal observations, financial concepts, and lessons from my own learning journey.
- Digital Business: Websites, software tools, and ideas for using technology to support everyday business needs.
My goal is to explain what I know clearly and make it useful to others. When I work on a project or explore a new idea, I want to share the process, the results, and the challenges I encounter.
I believe mistakes are worth discussing, too. Understanding what went wrong can be just as valuable as seeing what worked.
Learning and Sharing Together
I am happy to share what I know, and I am always willing to learn more. Everyone brings different knowledge and experience, and an open exchange of ideas can help us find better solutions.
Through this website, I hope to connect with people who enjoy learning, building, and solving problems. Whether you are just getting started or have years of experience, your questions and perspective are welcome.
Feel free to ask a question, suggest a topic, share your experience, or offer a different approach. I value thoughtful feedback and the opportunity to learn from others.
